For more information -
There is an over abundance of web sites where one can find information about vascular disease. Unfortunately, there is also a fair amount of misinformation as well. Following are links we would recommend to obtain reliable and accurate information.
www.vdf.org - One of our favorite sites for patient oriented, understandable, accurate and reliable information for a wide range of Vascular diseases. "The Vascular Disease Foundation (VDF) is a nonprofit educational organization dedicated to increasing awareness of the prevention, diagnosis, and management of vascular disease. Its outstanding board of directors include physicians and researchers who have been active in fighting vascular diseases for many years."
www.svunet.org - Our professional society home page. More of a professional site but contains position papers on a variety of topics. "The Society for Vascular Ultrasound represents vascular technologists, vascular surgeons, vascular lab managers, nurses, and other allied medical ultrasound professionals. Since its founding in 1977, SVU has been dedicated to the advancement of noninvasive vascular technology used in the diagnosis of vascular disease, through education programs, publications, and certification."
www.vascularweb.org - tends to be more professional in its content but still a useful resource. "The Society for Vascular Surgery seeks to advance excellence and innovation in vascular health through education, advocacy, research and public awareness. The organization was founded in 1947 and merged with the American Association for Vascular Surgery in 2003. The Society seeks to advance excellence and innovation in vascular health. The Society currently has a membership of more than 2,200 vascular surgeons. Membership in the Society is widely recognized in the vascular community as a mark of professional achievement."
www.ardms.org - The American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers, the personnel credentialing body you should demand of any person performing your exam. "ARDMS promotes quality care and patient safety through the certification and continuing competency of ultrasound professionals." |
